Chemotherapy

For many newly diagnosed cancer patients, facing the possibility of chemotherapy as a treatment option is daunting, if not overwhelming. However, great strides have been made in the field of chemotherapy over the past decade. And today, many of the side effects that people fear the most (e.g., vomiting, hair loss, fatigue, etc.) can often be significantly reduced, if not eliminated all together.

Today’s chemotherapy drugs have become more specialized and effective in fighting cancers than ever before. In fact, millions of patients around the world have experienced a positive response to chemotherapy. And the best part—in most cases the patient can continue to live their normal lives while receiving this form of cancer treatment.

Regardless, the thought of chemotherapy remains an uncomfortable one for many patients. At Cancer Care Associates, we realize this; that’s why we built a chemotherapy infusion room designed with our patients’ comfort in mind. We believe that your life doesn’t have to stop just because you’re receiving cancer treatment. That’s why our infusion area is equipped with several large reclining chairs that come complete with small work areas capable of supporting a laptop or other device. Flat panel televisions are located throughout the space, and the area is decorated to look less like a medical clinic and more like an area where you’d feel comfortable visiting with family and friends. In fact, we encourage our patients’ families to accompany them in our infusion room. Many times, small conversations between patient families in our infusion room result in friendships that last long after their cancer journey ends.
